The PILE Test was originally developed to provide a method of standardization to determine the levels of improvement relating to rehabilitation of patients. It is a low tech, low cost form of Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE); its usefulness is in the areas associated with preplacement screening and return to work assessments.

This test is a progressive iso-inertial test of lift capacity using free weights. The PILE utilizes a series of progressive loads over two vertical ranges (floor to waist, and waist to shoulder height), at one frequency. An individual's maximum acceptable weight is recorded at each range. Designed for testing men and women, progressions in weight increments are used to reach max weight with heart rate targeted.

Dynamometer Testing can be used to determine push-pull capability and grip strength.
